Canadian shenanigans

So it seems that the Canadian PM is playing silly buggers.

(Heh, I've always wanted to use "silly buggers" in the right context, so my mother wouldn't get mad at me for what is, technically, swearing. Hope you're proud of my restraint, mum!)

If you haven't read the reports in the newspapers (and, let's face it, I haven't, b/c I can't find them in any of the 3 papers I read online regularly), here's a great synopsis and extrapolation from a very fine Canadian woman.

(If you are not a knitter, you may not have heard of the Yarn Harlot, and may not have read her blog. You may wonder why I chose to refer you to her. Well, she is smart, successful (without making others unsuccessful), and she has a really great way with words. Also, it is the first explanation I've seen of the events that are unfolding.)

I'm looking forward to seeing how this unfolds. And if you're very, very good, I'll post about our own Canadian shenanigans in late Jan/early Feb.

Delusions, sweet delusions

Photos? More blogging? Who am I kidding?

I just don't have the time at the moment, in spite of all my best intentions. (Okay, so I did knit more on the secret project - but you can tell Blogger to wait. Babies pay me no mind.)

And I'd do more tonight, but I'm off to London for the day tomorrow - for work, though I will admit that I'm hoping I'll have a few free hours in which to prop up the British economy...

So I'll get back to you soon... ish.

Awesomeness

Two of my favourite things: librarians (hi, Mum!) demanding decent pay for doing important jobs, and knitting.

Read all about it here, and view photos from someone else's blog here.

I almost wish I were a striking librarian so I could knit all day long. Almost. But I suspect I'd spend too much time reading & lecturing people about good books & knitting, and too little time librarian-ing, so I'd get fired, then have no money for books or yarn, and be too shamed out to spend time in the library, and I'd die all sad and lonely.

So I'll stick to marketing. But I'll keep nurturing my inner (chatty) librarian.

Gay Paree

On Sunday we made the slightly impulsive decision to have a little holiday over the upcoming bank weekend (not this weekend, but the next).

We're going to Paris!!!

I'm so excited. Disproportionately excited really, especially given that it hasn't been too long since our last extended travel break, but I've always wanted to go to Paris - I mostly want to sit in the cafes, drink coffee (day) and champagne (night), walk the streets, and eat pastries.

I think I'm also excited because it doesn't always feel like I'm in Europe, and this will be concrete proof.

Our flight leaves Dublin at 8pm on Friday and we get back at 23:15 on Monday. We have a hotel booked somewhere between the Parc Monceau and the Square des Batignolles (is that good?).

I'm not in a blogging mood, but I just wanted to brag.

Peace out.
